Hemispherectomy was actually quite a clever solution except for one thing: it doesn't do anything. And how House can jump from seizure medication to taking out one half of some poor guy's brain is a mystery to me.
Maybe what they could have done is do more of "Needle in a Haystack" - it doesn't have to be something totally rare and out of this world, but they could do something quite ordinary that have very serious complications.
