Well, I don't have anything against one occasional kink or a story that starts dark, as long as it ENDS happy, but usually I really prefer the... fluffier ones. Like I said, it's just me. :)
I bet you'd love Phil Glenister, too, once you've seen Life On Mars. ;D But yeah, Bill Nighy is just brilliant. And James McAvoy, too. I loved him in State Of Play and as Mr. Tumnus in Narnia. :)
