My guess is nothing specifically happened. House went from being a little boy who idolized his dad to a teenager who did not. Perhaps that is all it took to begin the rift between them. Sadly, it doesn't take much sometimes, and it can snowball straight to hell from there if dad and son alike are trying to be the one in control. Add mom the enabler and tada! Family dysfunction!
