I always thought House respected Amber. Plus Amber let Wilson go outside and play with House.

I think he did, too, after the initial jealousy. He knew Amber wasn't going to lead him down the wrong path and leave him wounded. I think Sam thinks just because she's known Wilson longer she's gonna get the upper hand but he and House have had a stronger relationship than any other either of them have had.
