I think that if the finale is meant to be "uplifting," then it's also possible that it features House overcoming Wilson's death.

I recall an article where David Shore is also highlighting the great importance of House and Wilson's friendship, but must like with Hugh Laurie's comments...I'm unsure if that means House and Wilson are headed toward something in the future together (that is positive) or something particularly bleak, as you've suggested.
