Considering the title of this episode I think Wilson is a hallucination (wouldn't be the first one on the show). I guess Wilson dies in "The C Word" and House goes crazy again. In the end House realizes that Wilson is gone and takes his own life in the final episode ("Everybody dies").
This is what I think is going to happen ... but I don't like it. :-(

But Hugh Laurie called the finale 'uplifting'. I can't see House topping himself as uplifting.

Okay, I didn't know that.
Perhaps HL meant "uplifting" as in House's struggle (= coming to terms with Wilson's death) will be over?
One more thing: Kutner's return already means that somebody is hallucinating. That person could be House ... so perhaps he sees Kutner and Wilson together and realizes that Wilson is dead?!
Speculating is fun ... :-)

Could be a flashback or dream. Does not necessarily mean hallucination. Also, someone could meat him in Limbo (like House in "Wilson's Head" met Amber on the bus, a long time before he started hallucinating her)

Are you suggesting that it's possible that Wilson is the one hallucinating him? If Wilson is the one having a near-death experience, that could definitely be possible...

Or House? I think the last episode features him reevaluating his life and that could be after taken a lot of Vicodin...

But once again, I really don't know...

Well, it COULD be that Wilson is hallucinating, even though I don't think so. The point I was trying to make is, that it mustn't be any hallucination at all, but that it could also be a dream or a flashback or a near-death experience. (Like it was featured before). Or just symbolical stuff. Like the bus.

I definitely think that could be true. After all, last episode was saturated with references to dreams and symbolism.

In Christian terminology Christ's crucifixion is also referred to as Christ being 'lifted up' to the cross. In the passage below Jesus refers to his own crucifixion. HL may well be aware of that usage ...

"Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him." (John 3, 14 - 15, NIV)

Yet another advantage of having read the Bible in English. Good catch, although I think too higbrow for the show writers.

The 'uplfiting' comment came from HL, I think, who has a strong Presbyterian streak and who was probably put through daily assembly attendance at school.

You mean like a little like that one Scrubs episode, where Dr Cox seems to go on talking to Ben and we (the audience) only realize later, that he has been dead all the time? That's creepy... But I'd actually prefer that to SEEING Wilson die...

[identity profile] 4orty2.livejournal.com 2012-04-25 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah much like that.
It would also make for a great twist ... unless I just guessed it. :-)

[identity profile] petitecuriosity.livejournal.com 2012-04-26 11:39 am (UTC)(link)
I could see that happening too...That would make a lot of sense...

I don't know. I feel like there are vague rules to House's psyche and hallucinations having luggage isn't one of them since both of them have backpacks in one of the pictures. Of course, that could just be me being hopeful.
