Wilson's looking pretty good, for somebody who was dying in the previous episode.

And the hat House wore in Son of a Coma Guy is back -- I liked that hat.

This post's title confused me so much because of the normal title to the post-episode reaction posts!

IA, Wilson looks really good for someone who's supposed to be dying. Soooo...either we're out of the woods (fingers crossed!) or this is some bucket list type of thing.

But, you know, while House might not change, even after major events, Wilson is the type of person to see an event like this as an opportunity for change. Maybe *he* wants to change, maybe he wants happiness, and that's the conflict with House. I'm sure Thirteen could probably understand that. And it's something that could sort of go unresolved in the finale. Wilson wants more, he wants meaning to his life, now he has experienced that life is short. House has always thought this is nonsense, and it would mean change for him too, so he's against it. This could have played out over a longer arc, it could have given RSL a way out if he wanted, and it's a nice halfway point for House to maybe end the show on. He doesn't believe in change, but can he at least support his friend when he wants to?

I'm just grasping at straws at this point, I really don't want Wilson to die.

Completely irrelevant to the main plot I know, but is House still on parole? and if so can he leave the state?

Surely they're not going to dispense with the 'Wilson has cancer' plot in one episode so maybe the risky procedure in House's apartment is after this one?

After seeing the promo, I have a feeling that the scene with Wilson on the couch not wanting to go to the hospital in NOT from the next episode. It does not make any sense that Wilson goes from being quite healthy to almost dying in one episode. In the promo they say that 4 episodes remain, so I see it as a preview of the story arc for the last 4 episodes. IMO what happens is that Wilson tells House about the risky treatment with the cancer medicine and somehow it's not legal so that's why they have to get the medicine from outside the hospital (episode 19-20) and do the treatment in House's place 'cos they don't want anybody to know what they are doing (episodes 21 and/or 22).

But I could be wrong, so we'll see what happens. I just don't like the idea of TPTB rushing us to Wilson's death (one minute-Wilson has cancer-the next minute- Wilson is dead) :(

I suppose I keep wondering if the Wilson in this episode is a hallucination...

I agree with [Unknown site tag], that it would make sense for House to go against Wilson's wishes and take him to the hospital. I think Stacy even said that House would have done the same thing in her position.

I also really do think that it's possible that the ending will be left as ambiguous, as to whether or not House or Wilson dies. But based on the finale title...I have a feeling that it will at least be indicative that Wilson is terminal/still dying. Still...that truly can be remedied in fic, with the way things on the show seem to work, zebras and cures coming from the oddest of places.

I really don't know at this point. I keep looking hopefully at spoilers, (my resistance finally fell through), but with the fact that any of this, given House's drug use, could be a hallucination...I really have no idea.

My opinion? This is House's ruminating on his life, with dead!Wilson as his conscience or whatever. He does indeed look healhy for someone dying of cancer.

I wonder if they are off to see Olivia Wilde, because she returns for 2 of the final 3 episodes and intervenes in House and Wilson's relationship.

Considering the title of this episode I think Wilson is a hallucination (wouldn't be the first one on the show). I guess Wilson dies in "The C Word" and House goes crazy again. In the end House realizes that Wilson is gone and takes his own life in the final episode ("Everybody dies").
This is what I think is going to happen ... but I don't like it. :-(

I don't know that they necessarily go right back to the hospital; I don't think so.
It looks like to me that House does get Wilson to stop taking the intense treatment that was as bad or worse than the disease. That seemed an awful over reaction to a Stage II cancer that has a large range of 5 - 20 year survival rate. But maybe A doctor who has had to watch for decades the struggle of so many of his patients, those who survive and those who don't, people he becomes so emotionally involved with, couldn't bear the idea of being one of them. It seems like a panic move, Cure me or Kill me.

Now why they have back packs and seem to be waiting for a bus I do not know. I believe they are both real as I doubt hallucinations bring along luggage.

This arc may be that House is going to have to prepare for the very real possibility of life without Wilson. This time there is no prank or plea he can pull to change that, Wilson's life is going to be shortened for certain, but farther down the road, after the series is over. Wilson has to worry not only about his own mortality but what will happen to House; what will House do to himself. I'm sure Wilson would like to go forward having some confidence that House could go on without him and still be fine because Wilson is always worried about House and has always wanted House to be happy.

That could be another reason Wilson opts for the drastic treatment to save himself to be there for House.

RSL said like Hawkeye and BJ there will be no good-bye between H/W. Well if Wilson died there would have to be a good-bye between them since there is no way House would leave Wilson's side. So I say Wilson lives. Wilson LIVES!

I haven't read all the above comments yet, but my take - this looks like it could have been art for a fanfic in which House talks to a dead Wilson.

Unless "Post Mortem" is set a long time later, there is no way Wilson would look that good, that soon.

I love these pics of House and Wilson but I just don't get it. In Gut Check, Wilson said that he is still talking to his parents. So when do they find out he has cancer?

Alrighty let me try inject some positivity in this with my theory because we are all freaking out and you guys are making me freak out too.

I know we all get frightened at the word CANCER. But the 5-year survival rate for Stage II thymoma is above 70%. He does not have thymic carcinoma, which is rare and much more lethal, as it is diagnosed when it has already spread to other organs. If he goes for surgery and radiation (the normal course of treatment for what he has), then he has a very good chance of survival. So it is incredibly weird that he (one of the top oncologists in the country) wants to try this radical treatment. It's not like he's late-stage, or even terminal, and is going to have to undergo countless courses of palliative, futile chemotherapy (which he made it sound like, actually)

Most people who have cancer look bad because they are usually late-stage and are dealing with the effects of rigorous courses of chemotherapy and radiation. Up to half of patients with thymomas do not know they have cancer because there may be no symptoms at all. Wilson might have found out only because he is an oncologist. So, technically, once he gets off these horrible meds (maybe they're a clinical trial drug) that seem to be life-threatening, he will probably go back to feeling and looking fine for a while. Even terminal cancer patients who stop chemo have a brief period where they feel good because there are no more toxic meds ravaging their system and killing off the good cells together with the bad cells.

The writers chose a rare cancer that has good chances of survival. They must have had a reason for that. And if they decide that they're gonna kill Wilson with that radical, totally unnecessary treatment, when he has really really good chances of remission and survival, I hope that they know the fans of the show will probably hunt them down and kill them. And they would have sacrificed rationality and logic for high drama. (ok obviously I'm crossing my fingers that the writers are still worth something after all we've seen).

And, promos are always meant to draw us in with high drama (this show is a whiz at that, remember). The road trip (maybe even the 2nd half of the episode) might be spent dealing with the fallout of whatever House chooses to do - stay home and let Wilson die when it is totally unnecessary and stupid? Or go to the hospital and go against Wilson's wishes? Post Mortem would make sense as a title for that. This has potential - House might do to Wilson what Stacy did to him. And there is the fact that he has all the emotional attachment in the world to this patient, and went against his logic and what he knew was right, to do what his terrified best friend (who's doing a very Houseian thing with this radical treatment) asked him to do. House would probably have to reexamine himself as a friend, and as a doctor (logic is everything to him after all).

Wilson is looking good...Kutner is coming back right? And 13?

I say this is a hallucination/dream.

What if House just wakes up from his season 4 coma and the last few seasons never happened?

Hey, maybe Wilson left the TV on in House's hospital room on the soaps network and that's how all these story plots crept their way into House's dream world.
You know, and Wilson knows, how much House loves his soaps.

And it's uplifting because Wilson never really had cancer, House never went crazy or went to jail, Kutner never killed himself, season 7 Cuddy relationship didn't happen...
and so much time has passed that Wilson has long forgiven him about Amber and is just so pleased to see him awake.

I think House is right-people dont change,House will not change at end of series and neither will Wilson,But I do think House is much more open re what he wants than Wilson-

When Wilson was with Sam I think at one point House says to him "I can wait" Wilson says wait for what.Obvious House is waiting on Wilson to realize that he loves House.It doesnt mean Wilsons changed just basically that he admits to what hes always been-in love with House/ Thats how I see it.

Perhaps this is something of a callback to the Tritter Arc episode, when Wilson had his car impounded and was having to take the bus everywhere. In that episode, House came by on his motorcycle, but didn't offer Wilson a ride. Maybe this time he does.

Not for nothing, but another comm posted HQ shotes of HL and RSL...Wilson is dressed like House, complete with backpack next to him. Note t-shirt, open rumpled shirt...gaaaaah...

I also just noticed that in the second H/W photo House is smoking a cigar... Around a cancer patient. Oh House. >.<

Unless this is a case of a cigar not being just a cigar ;-)

God they're gorgeous. I just want the rest of thecharacters to go away and have one hour of pure unadulterated HL/RSL gazing as they act on to gloriously win Emmys. Then they (or at least I) can die happy.

There is no scenario that would be believable of House letting Wilson leave him, There is a very famous clinic: Cleveland Clinic .

Wilson is the person that matters most to House,And same holds true of House for Wilson,A love story doesnt get any better than this.

I am all for the belief that Wilson has already died and the final few episodes are hallucinations of House as he hits the Vicodin pretty hard to cope with his best mate dying. Also I think House ends up killing himself, and the "uplifting" comment is meant to mean uplifting for house as he finally escapes the pain of his addictions....

Just a thought.... but tends to follow the themes of the last 8 seasons in my head.....
