I know hemispherectomy is a real process. And it is actually done in several cases where there is so much brain damage that it is necessary to remove half the brain. What happens after that, I'm not so sure, but it's a pretty rare procedure. And honestly I doubt that most doctors would recommend such a procedure to someone like Patrick, who would do very well even with a useless right brain.
