If you can believe the internet, the odds of two browns producing a blue is 12%, one brown and one blue producing a blue is 37%, so not so very rare if his "spouse" was a blue and he carried the recessive blue gene. Of course if Wilson did not have the recessive blue (and there's no way to tell just looking at his eyes, or even looking at his family tree, the recessive gene can travel a looong way incognito) only then would the odds of producing a blue have been 0%.
