Summary: What remains in Wilson’s mind, abstracted like a piece of post-modern art, is the car ride from one hospital back to their own. How, when the light would turn red he’d move his head to find House staring with a look that he could not quite understand. If House could feel sympathy, Wilson ventures to guess that this is perhaps what he would look like, but he is too cruel of a man to feel this. The car ride was smooth and the hour was late. Every minute that moved was tense and pregnant with an unspoken question. Wilson remembers this, the curious look on House’s face, how not a word left his mouth, how Wilson had left the radio low so that any word spoken would be loud and clear as morning, so that silence finally mocked him all the more.
