Anyone of you noticed that when House breaks into Wilson's hotel room (the whole TiVo incient), there's a 1l-bottle of white wine standing on Wilson's table?
Just wondered what that was for. Maybe it's different in New Jersey, but where I live you don't just have bottles of wine standing about. Also, it wasn't part of the plot, and the people who decorate the sets must have some idea about what they put where and why.
I just dunnow what Wilson needs that bottle for. This is bugging me since I saw the episode more than two weeks ago.

"White wine and sleeping pills / help me get back to your arms / cheap sex and sad films / help me get where I belong"
Not that that really has anything to do with anything, but hey.

Date: 2007-10-14 04:16 am (UTC)I tried keeping a bottle of Maker's on my desk-but the next morning when I woke up in a pool of my own vomit and then tried to sit up I hit my head on the desk and then fell back into to puddle of puke...yeah, well that's when I decided to keep the liquor somewhere less accessible.

Date: 2007-10-13 09:48 pm (UTC)That's what I've been thinking, which is why I'm so confused about that bottle. It's an full and unopened one, by the way.
Also, your icon is cute!

Date: 2007-10-13 10:41 pm (UTC)Most white wines shouldn't be chilled as much as most Americans serve them; that is, they should be served at about 55 degrees Fahrenheit (I'm not sure of the Celsius conversion). Generally you're supposed to stick it in the fridge for about half an hour to an hour. So maybe Wilson's got it out because he has no where else to put it that's not the fridge, and he pops it in the fridge when he gets home from work and a bit before he orders his room service.
And I think "Grey's Anatomy" totally stole this bit for Callie. (Along with Addison's red Corvette, the free clinic, Coma Guy... is McDreamy going to have an infarction soon? Will Karev get shot by an angry patient?)

I don't know the answer to your question though. Sorry. Again.

Date: 2007-10-14 10:20 am (UTC)Unless it's cooking wine, because the alcohol evaporates when you cook it. But then again, which single man cooks with wine in a hotel room?
P.S.: Btw, I know there are pills you shouldn't take with alcohol, what I don't know is what'd happen if you do it anyway.

Date: 2007-10-14 12:02 pm (UTC)Alcohol changes the way certain drugs work on your system. They can increase their effect or sometimes reduce it. Not sure why, might be the way the body receives the active agents? Either way, it's generally recommended not to. However, it doesn't exactly insta-kill you if you do it anyway. Like I often have a sleeping pill after I've head alcohol and I'm still fine (disclaimer: DON'T DO THAT! And I'm not a total druggy, okay). But there might be complications that can't be predicted, so it's generally better not to.
And in terms of the anti-depressants, like I said, it's because alcohol counteracts the desired effect of those drugs, so it's just plain stupid to drink while you're on them.
