ETA: All authors, please make sure to read this update on submission guidelines.
An announcement from
flywoman and
jezziejay with permission of the
house_wilson mods:
We're really pleased that so many new and returning
house_wilson members are interested in the idea of a fic challenge to liven up the community. Here's an opportunity for all of us to get acquainted with each other's work while participating as readers and/or writers!
The "Everybody Lie!" Challenge
Write a fic focusing on House and Wilson, featuring a lie. The catch? The fics will be posted anonymously, and readers are going to try to guess who you are... so LIE to them. Disguise your style, choose an unusual format, attempt an angsty slash fic if you normally write fluffy friendship fic, etc. You can even imitate another author who has posted links to fic samples if you dare (but please be considerate - respectful imitation or gently poking fun at your friends is fine, but mean-spirited mockery will not be tolerated). The point is to get out of your comfort zone and see how many of us you can fool!
Please sign up in the comments below to indicate your intent to submit an entry. If you like, include links to a couple of representative fics so that readers (and writers ;)) can get a sense for your usual subjects and style.
Between APRIL 1 and APRIL 8, please send a copy of your fic to
flywoman or
jezziejay by private message. All entries will be posted anonymously to
house_wilson as they are received. A final list of authors' names will be posted once the April 8 deadline for fic submissions has passed. Readers can comment on each fic and indicate whom they think might have written it until April 15, when all will be revealed!
FAQ:
Do I post my fic directly to
house_wilson ?
No - please PM a copy to
flywoman or
jezziejay between APRIL 1 and APRIL 8. We will post them to the comm from our accounts so that no one will know it was yours until the end of the challenge.
Must I have posted fic to
house_wilson before?
No - new members as well as veterans are encouraged to participate in this challenge. You do not even need to have posting access since your fic will be posted for you.
Can I post my fic to my own LJ and/or other comms?
Sure, but please wait until after the challenge is over so that
house_wilson community members can have the fun of trying to guess your identity!
Should I use a beta?
We highly recommend that all authors use a beta in addition to spelling and grammar check. Just make sure to swear your beta to secrecy ;).
Can participants comment on each other's fics?
Absolutely - in fact, we highly encourage it.
Can I comment on my own fic?
Of course! It's yet another way to fool other readers into thinking it was written by someone else!
